The clothing-optional area of San Onofre State Beach is located south of the main state park beaches. There are six numbered hiking trails numbered 1 to 6 north to south that lead down to beaches in this state park. The nude beach is south from the bottom of Trail 6. See Bluffs Beach for more information. To get there, take Exit 71 off I-5 and head south on Old Pacific Highway between Interstate and ocean and continue to the end of the road. Pay the fee to enter the park and drive to the very end of the park road.

This is a tremendous park in which to camp, kick back, visit the beach and surf. The Old Pacific The first time I went there, I walked down from the first parking area around the power plant to the other end. Eventually I reached the nude area. I found it to be a beach where you can take very long walks.

About 40 years ago, when I was teaching at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, a friend dropped by and invited me to a party. Rather than envisioning bodies of all shapes, sizes and ages soaking up rays, I tend to substitute sunbathers in tuxedos. At my age, it can be more appealing.
It is one of the most visited state parks in California, receiving about 2. Among the activities that can be enjoyed at the park include swimming, sunbathing, surfing, beach sports, kayaking, biking, and even camping. Before , the park featured a clothing-optional area frequented by naturists and nudists. Today, nudity is prohibited in the area and park rangers can give visitors tickets when found in their birthday suits on the beach.
